Howzit Folks,

I am moving from Jozi to Slaapstad today so I do not know how long I will be offline for... I am working on a story to write about at the moment, but I am still waiting for replies from the South African NIA before I can complete the story.

Hopefully I will have it up within the week.

Since your first comment started off with a lie (why do you people have such problems with honesty? wow).. I researched Professor Walter Veight. Google has never heard of a Professor Walter Veight or even a Walter Veight. Clearly his research is so bad its never being reproduced... anywhere. Either that or he does not exist. I also searched the www.sun.ac.za website and couldn't find your Mr Veight anywhere. Before we can believe he exists could you please tell me what department or faculty he is in? What does he have a PhD in and where did he get it? Also if you could find his thesis for his PhD I would also like that.

Then you say that there are flaws in evolution in this magical DVD you have access to... but fail to mention what they are. Name three.. no wait. Name one. Just one. Sorry, you start out with a lie, move onto a possible fabrication then end off with a straw man comment.

I am going to need loads more information and verification from you before I can take you seriously and not just some nut. When you provide YOUR EVIDENCE. We can move on.

My God wants me to understand life and wants me to understand God. In our galaxy we have roughly 100 billion stars, and in our field of few we can see hundreds of billions of galaxies. God is massive and want me to evolve to become the best I can be. God wants me to understand his creation and in understanding as much as I can of his creation, I can hope to learn more about God. Unlike you, I know how small I am, and am not naive enough to think that what we see on this planet is all that there is out there in this physical universe. I expect my God to hold honesty and truth in high regard, and when weighing the balance of evidence around me, I cant be like you and resort to a dogmatic lie. I see God as eternity, not the sum total of a bunch of books put together by a bloody thirsty RCC Bishop.

Evolution Aby, happens ever day, whether you believe in it or not. Evolution effects your day to day activities in many ways (the medicine you take, the food that you eat even the clothes you wear). Evolution is a part of Gods plan. There was a time when everyone believed in your version of the, "truth"... we know it as the Dark Ages. The Dark Ages were not dark because there was no light, there was light, but people failed to see it.

I really hope one day you can look and understand the bigger picture, and appreciate the honour, responsibility and importance of life. I dont think you will... but I know we are evolving and getting better, so I have hope for the future. Evolution apparently works faster in some than in others.

Prof Veith was a Professor of Zoology at UCT when I was there in the late eighties. He took us into his office once for a lesson proving that cervical cancer could be avoided by following old testement laws. Was considered a bit nutty by the then very secular university. I gather he has recently been at UWC.
A couple of years ago I attended his lectures in East London. I heckled him a bit and spent a lot of time chatting to him afterwards.
His path to creationims was via the profecies in Daniel. A bit odd, but he really did have a sound knowledge of Evolution before he abandoned it. This makes him much easier to listen to than the ignorant people who know nothing about Evolution other than that it is wrong!
I am now preparing to teach our Grade 12's evolution for the first time and I find that having listened to Prof Veith gives me very good insight into dealing with Teenagers' Faith issues.

Its nice of y`all to defend him, but seriously, if he has a real opinion on evolution and any problems with it.. he of course would have done the honorable thing and submitted the paper for peer review. If it had held any merit.. it would have being accepted.

On the other hand.. if what he was writing was outside his chosen field and experience, and he knew it would not pass peer review muster... he would have kept his opinion to himself.. and used that opinion to poison the minds of the simple.. and the less skeptical. Basically people that would not check up on if what he was saying with the truth or a lie.

Unless someone can give me a paper written by Veith on the matter (And I am not talking about the local Christian book exchange stuff that doesnt even pass a normal publishers fact checking)... im talking about a REAL SCIENTIFIC paper on the subject.

If no one can provide this then we can consider the opinion of Prof Veith (as a source of reliable information) mute on the topic of evolution.

The site's owner is a scientist by training and his disciplines does allow him to speak authoritatively about evolution , and his absolute acceptance of the Bible's young earth position does create challenges to most evolutionist.

I read a few papers from his major oppositions.

What other theory Ally? There is only one scientific theory on the matter. You see Ally if you had taken natural sciences (or passed it in high school), you would know the word theory can mean two very separate things. It could mean theory as in a guess or it can be a scientific theory. When talking about the theory of evolution (otherwise known as the Modern Evolutionary Synthesis), we are talking about a theory that has undergone a little (really really important thing) called the "scientific method". Please educate yourself and wiki this. You need a bit of a 101 in basic science.

Let me quote wiki on what something has to comply with to be considered a scientific theory or scientific:

To be termed scientific, a method of inquiry must be based on gathering observable, empirical and measurable evidence subject to specific principles of reasoning.[1] A scientific method consists of the collection of data through observation and experimentation, and the formulation and testing of hypotheses

TOE complies with this on all levels. Your opinion doesnt matter, the observable, testable evidence does. The truth is not democratic.

If by theory you are using the common usage of the word.. by you mean a guess.. then yes. The Gensis Creation Myth does qualify as a guess. One proven wrong if taken literally and metaphorically by most of Christianity.

However.. it doesnt stop there. While Christianity is the largest religion in the world, thers also the Islamic creationist story.. and the Hindu one... and the Nordic Gods one (I kinda like Zeus and Odin). You think yours is right, they think their is right.. etc etc yada yada yada.

To be honest. I dont care what you believe as long as it doesnt have negative effects. This is an evil and disgusting politicized issue now. Creationists are liars.. its being proven in the court of law (I can linky for you if you are to lazy to google)... thats it. I dont have to respect your beliefs any more than I have to respect cultures that practice female circumcision or religions that support terrorism. My personal beliefs are not to respect cultures or beliefs I find disgusting. Absolutely. Also the Bible does not say the world is 6000 years old sunshine. I know it pretty well thanks. Thats the age some early Christian calculated it to be based on his under standing of the Old Testament. I would say ... 90% of Christianity does not think the world is 6000 years old. Just those really limited ones... you know Creationists and the Christian Flat Earth Society. Yeah... some Christians still believe the world is flat and argue and debate in the EXACT same way you are.

The irony is ... well .. honestly.. to be expected.

You are one of either two types of things Ally. A person who means to do right but clearly is in an argument he or she doesnt know the real facts at all about. Science cant measure ghosts and boogymen because as I explained earlier (I assume it completely missed you).. to be scientific something has to comply with the scientific method. You cant measure or observe God or heaven therefore science is totally unable to either prove or disprove God/Religion. Its this reason why you have different fields of study.. one being Theology the other being natural sciences.

Im not going to respect you until you stop lying. When you stop lying then we can be more reasonable with each other, but right now your lies make you my version of Satanic. I dont tolerate evil disinformation that is effecting the future of our species.

Im not ragging you for not believing in science , Im ragging you for lying about science. I dont care who you are, but if you are going to lie for your relgion and those lies effect civil society.. Im ganna be the guy there making sure you lot dont burn people at the stake again.
